Vermeer Directional Drill Models
Vermeer splits its horizontal directional drills into Utility Directional Drills and Pipeline Directional Drills. On the Navigator and S3 models, the first number in the name roughly tracks thrust/pullback in thousands of pounds and the second tracks rotational torque in hundreds of foot-pounds — the D8x12 is rated at 7,850 lb and 1,200 ft-lb. Vermeer's Next Generation drills, starting with the D24 in November 2024, use a single number that Vermeer says indicates thrust/pullback.
