A fiber technician handles the broader OSP and ISP task list around the splice: placing and routing fiber, terminating panels and cabinets, testing and troubleshooting live plant, and turning services up. It is the role that spans the plant rather than one operation. Contractors hire on test-gear fluency, the ability to read prints, and the judgment to isolate a fault without guessing.
